Chris Lacklison - Keyboards - Glam Rock Band "KENNY"
Chris Lacklison & family moved to Brixham Devon from Enfield Middlesex in 1978, and moved to Blue Waters Holiday Apartments in Goodrington in November 1983. Once a member of the pop band "KENNY" from the glam rock period of 1975/76, remember "The Bump", "Fancy Pants", "Baby I Love You O.K", "Julie Anne", "Nice To Have You Home", "Hot Lips", "Red Headed Lady" and an album called "The Sound Of Super K" they also appeared on many T.V shows like "Top of the Pops", "Supersonic", "Jim´ll fix it" etc. I, Chris Lacklison was the keyboard player along with Chris Redburn on bass, Yan Style on Guitar, Andy Walton on drums and on vocals, Rick Driscoll.
When the new music of punk rock came along, that ended the glam rock period and KENNY disbanded.
See the Kenny story below.
The Kenny Story

Hit Single - Fancy Pants - Glam Rock Band "KENNY"
Well, were to start, I can´t remember who it was but someone said to me, I think in the Stag & Hounds Inn in Enfield that there was a new group getting together and that they needed a keyboard player. The singer at that time was Ross Pringle and he worked in a banana warehouse where we use to practice in one of the lockers, here it was that Chuff was formed, that was our name before we changed it to KENNY, me on keyboards, Yan Style on Guitar, Chris Redburn on bass, Andy Walton on drums and Ross Pringle on guitar and vocals.
As Chuff we played the Windsor Pop Festival and played in a few top venues in London playing our own form of underground music, then we played as the support act to The Troggs at Middlesex Polytechnic collage where we were approached by a person called Matt who worked for an agency called Starlite, owned by Peter Walsh, who also at the time was manager to Hot Chocolate, Katie Kissoon and Marmalade, he said he knew a couple of songwriters (Martin & Coulter) who were looking for a group to play a song they had wrote.
So this is where the story began, we signed with our manager Peter Walsh and his agency Starlite. This was, looking back on it, a fair contract of 10% management and 15% agency when at the time some bands were paying as much as 40%. It was here that singer Ross Pringle was replaced by Rick Driscoll, a friend of Yan´s from his school days who played for another band in Enfield, this was after an audition by Keith Chegwin (who went on to swap shop fame with Noel Edmunds) who was favoured by the songwriters chose not to join us. The record company we used was RAK Records owned by Mickey Most who I met I believe only once when we had a dispute with Martin & Coulter over royalties which resulted in a 50/50 deal with the songwriters.
The song "The Bump" was such a success, selling over 250,000 copies in the UK alone, getting to No 2 in the pop charts for approximately 10 weeks held off the number one spot by Queen with Bohemian Rhapsody.
Following that we had a few more top 10 singles with "Fancy Pants", "Baby I Love You OK" and "Julie Anne", we also had an album called "The Sound of Super K", other singles which were released were "Nice to Have You Home", the last with Martin & Coulter and RAK records, then with our new record company Polydor, "Hot Lips" and "Red Headed Lady".
The new music of Punk was just emerging and in August 1976 I decided to call it a day and left the band. In 1977 the glam rock period had finished and Kenny disbanded.
Recently it came to light that there was a band impersonating us, claming to be KENNY, which did not have a single original member in it. At one gig they were confronted by Chris Redburn and Yan Style !!! Very embarrassing for the promoters who thought they had booked the original band Kenny!!!
